I will give a general introduction about macular degeneration and its treatment and then discuss some areas of research such as stem cell treatments, gene therapy and eye nutrition.

I will also cover the STAR study which looks at stereotactic radiotherapy for wet AMD and also the recent press reports about the EyeMax Mono lens that has been heavily advertised for treatment of wet AMD.
